Busy as shit

Sorry for the long lapse in updates people. I have a row of excuses, though they’re all pretty lame and involve video games. Yes, I’ve been playing a lot of video games lately, mainly Neverwinter Nights. I’m (still) working on a video game section of this site, so I won’t say any more about gaming here.

The other excuses I have are as follows: work has been busy, I traveled for Thanksgiving, and I really need to study for the GRE. My job sucks so much (I spent an hour hole-punching 3,000 pages of documents yesterday, ‘nuf said), which greatly increases my desire to get the hell out of here. I’m way behind on studying and applications, too. I haven’t done much of anything for applications, and only have two weeks left to finish studying for the GRE, and I haven’t even memorized the Pythagorean theorem yet! My plan is to buckle down this weekend and take 1-2 practice tests. I’ll hopefully feel better about everything after that.

Let’s see, what else has been going on? Thanksgiving was great, though passed very quickly, as the holidays tend to do. It was great to see the family and all that. I’m already very much looking forward to Christmas, which is superior to Thanksgiving in every way: you still eat a lot, AND you get presents.

At any rate, don’t expect much new stuff until the end of the month or early in the new year. I’ve got a lot going on in December with the GRE and a busy social calendar (people actually invite me to parties; crazy, I know, since all I do is sit in the corner and/or get drunk and loudly make fun of everyone). I’d love to get the gaming section live since games have taken over my life recently, but I’m not picturing that happening, since I’d much rather play the games than jabber on about them.

Golf Weekend 2005

This past weekend, I went to a magical place. It was sunny all the time, food was plentiful and greasy, and I could golf whenever I wanted. Of course, there was no power, no hot water, and piles of debris everywhere, but no place is perfect. I was in Ft. Lauderdale, FL visiting a friend that I’ve known him since I was 5. My brother was also there (I’ve also known him since I was 5), and all we did was drink and play golf. It was very relaxing, to say the least.

Some high points:

  • Sunburn from the 6 hours it took us to play our first 18 holes of golf (believe me, getting burned really was the high point of that day)
  • Hot dogs from the grill (my friend grilled some other stuff, too, but screw that, I love hot dogs)
  • SoCo and lime. Who would have guessed that SoCo could ever be good?
  • IHOP on Sunday morning. I had some great pigs in a blanket. You just can’t beat that mix of grease, salt, lard, and sugar
  • Beating my brother by a single stroke in the final round of the weekend on the last hole (made par, for only about the second time all weekend)

All together, it was a great, and something that the three of us are determined to make an annual tradition. Next year, my brother will be legal, which will open up a whole list of exciting things we can do.
